My work is as varied as my clients. I help businesses promote themselves effectively online, in whatever way they need me to do that. I love what I do, and I love seeing how it helps my clients’ businesses progress. Here’s a small glimpse into some recent assignments and what my clients say.
Claire and Michelle are non-practising solicitors on a mission to bring their cool analytical and spectacular organisational skills to businesses, large and small. They asked me for headshots and web content (would you believe the gorgeous, relaxed lady in the grey warned me she was ‘terrified’ of the camera?) and I also helped them clarify their core marketing messages.
Claire says; ‘Alison was a real delight to work with. Her objective analysis of our previous website gave us immediate confidence that she was the right person for the job. She spent the time to both understand our business, and our new objectives, and was able to translate that into text which was much more comprehensible to our clients. We believe that her involvement will lead to an immediate increase in business for our company and we now have a much clearer marketing message.’
Gill says: ‘Alison produced a Digital MOT, took head and shoulders shots of myself and provided a photographic tutorial session. The digital MOT was concise, easy to read and full of advice to move forward with. Alison has a professional yet easy-going manner. These qualities were very evident as she patiently manoeuvred me through the photographic tutorial and her photographic skills shone as she managed to capture some rather amazing photographs for the head an shoulders shots. Many thanks, Alison and I look forward to working with you in the future.’
Judith says: ‘I am not in the least photogenic and an unwilling sitter and yet I needed some updated professional headshots for my book cover, website, social media, general all-round promo purposes etc. What’s a girl to do? Call in Alison, that’s what. She not only made it as easy as possible on the day (and before and after too) but the results are better than I dared hope. She’s a real pro with all she does, she exceeded the brief, everyone’s delighted and complimentary, even and especially me. We all like different shots, of course, but there’s something for everyone. One of my most grown-up and experienced colleagues who, during the course of her distinguished career has been photographed a thousand times, told me to tell Alison that she is “a fine portrait artist” and I could not have put it better myself. Professionalism and artistic inspiration = a winning combination. I flew her from Scotland to London; next time we are planning on a far more glamorous location, worthy of both Alison’s work and her subject!’
Belia says: ‘Thank you, Alison. I cannot say enough about how inspirational you are to work with. Not only are you teaching me the nuts and bolts of technology, but you have also taken away my considerable fear. I was totally convinced that whatever I did on the internet, I would get hacked, scammed and end up on the dark web somewhere. So thank you for building my confidence and showing me the positive sides of social media and social marketing. I am finally getting it.’
She also said: ‘Have been working with Alison on boosting my confidence in using social media as well as developing my digital marketing skills and strategy. She is kind, patient and very clear with her teaching. For anyone looking to improve their digital marketing and/or social media skills, Alison is the woman to go to. Highly recommended.’
A cause dear to my heart. About ten years ago, I worked for the Nepal Trust, handling their communications, updating the website (this was before social media) and collating their annual magazine. I even went to Nepal to visit the projects, trekking over 100 miles through the Himalayas, into the remote north-western province of Humla, one of the poorest regions on the planet. That trip was life changing and I have continued to support them ever since. In 2017, directors Tony Sharpe and Anna McPherson asked me to advise on the redesign of the website and create a digital marketing strategy.
Tony says ‘We are delighted with your hard work on the Digital Marketing Review. Thanks so much for your guidance and knowledge!’
Web content creation for a new cafe in Keith. It was after meeting Russell to learn about his business that I was inspired to pen my own story. He and Jemma are both passionate foodies, their story wove naturally into their branding.
Russell says: ‘This is absolutely fantastic!! We both really love it, you’ve precisely nailed exactly what we were after, I couldn’t be more pleased!’
Chloe says: ‘Thank you so much for coming to my presentation and taking the photos of me for my website. I’m really pleased with them and appreciated working with you – your professionalism and expertise and your skill in improving them digitally.’
She also says: ‘Thank you Alison for helping me to prepare a digital advert for the Alternatives magazine. It would have been a big job for me to try and figure out how to do that myself. Good luck with your work.’
This renowned Lossiemouth microbrewery started brewing in late 2012. Now exporting to multiple countries in Europe, and the winners of countless awards, both for the beer and the business, Windswept are at the leading edge of the Scottish craft brewing scene.
As an external creative, I worked closely with the web designer to develop the look and feel of the site according to brand guidelines. I created much of the original written content and supplied a variety of photography services, including product photos (onsite and in the studio) and shots of the team.
